A complete roof replacement is just what it sounds like: complete. Unlike re-roofing, which involves laying down a new layer of shingles on top of your old roofing material, a complete roof replacement involves tearing off every layer of your roof and replacing it. This is why some companies call it a “tear-off” roof.
Roof Repairs
The need for repairs on a roof are often unpredictable and can happen due to a wide range of factors.
Unpredictable weather and storm seasons can cause major wear and tear on any roofing system. Old or unreliable roofing materials quickly start to deteriorate under the harsh heat of the sun, heavy rain or wind. Even lack of regular roof maintenance can take its toll over time.
Hail / Wind Damage
High winds and hail can weaken the seal integrity of your shingles. A weakened seal is what causes a shingle to blow off and can leave your roof exposed to the elements. Once a shingle is damaged, its integrity has been permanently compromised. This can lead to leaks, and it can cause other shingles around it to become compromised.
Water / Interior Damage
There are many different household problems that can be procrastinated. However, a leaky roof should take the highest priority on your list of home maintenance issues. Leaky roofs can develop for a variety of reasons: improper roof installation, wind or storm damage, and lack of maintenance. Or it could just be time to replace your roof. Keep in mind that most roofs are only meant to last 20 to 30 years.
